Can gilding techniques transform into a silhouette project?

Yes. Gilding techniques have a long history of use in the visual arts to express rich and diverse ideas. For more information on the process of Water Guilding, please visit this eLecture done by a former student.

Shaping - Meaning is a thinking process of how an object(s) can be related. This process introduce us to observe and investigate "what we see" to "what we have",  and depart to  "what we want".  Through the shapes, we are allowed to create a visual language in a conceptual idea. The silhouette project bring this idea into a visual form.

Gold leaves are the esential materials in Byzantine and classical art. It represents not only the religious feeling, but also serves as a medium that represents light.

Here are some questions for myself while creating this project.

How do I connect gold leaves and silhouette together and create a piece of work that represents shaping-meaning.

How do I connect the gold leaves to "what we see", "what we have", and "what we want".
